Exploring Racial Justice and Systemic Oppression
Humanity began with one person, Adam, so that no one could say to another, “My ancestors are greater than yours” (Mishna Sanhedrin 4:5). During this exploration, we will meet with Black leaders in the field of racial equity. We will learn with organizations led by Jews of Color in the United States and discuss the Jewish community's structural exclusivity. Food Justice
We learn from the Torah that we should leave the corners of our fields for those who are hungry. In this workshop, participants will engage with the concepts of food insecurity in the United States by meeting teen and adult activists in the field. We will conclude the workshop with a hands-on sustainability pickle making lesson.

What is Social Enterprise?
Maimonides’ “ladder of giving” will be our guiding text in learning about the Jewish laws of giving. In this workshop, participants learn about the difference between social enterprise and a traditional nonprofit, discuss “solutions privilege,” and dig into the role of equity in grantmaking. Participants will meet the founders of successful multi-million dollar social enterprises. They will be inspired to shop differently and learn entrepreneurial skills to inspire their own responses to social injustice.

Understanding Homelessness
Since the times of the prophets, we learn from Isaiah to “take the unsheltered into our homes.” We will learn about several nonprofits and social enterprises that are striving to have an impact on the issues of homelessness in Los Angeles.
