Description:
We are a food bank that is part of the Feeding America network. Our mission is to end hunger in South Florida by providing immediate access to nutritious food, leading hunger and poverty advocacy efforts and transforming lives through innovative programming and education. You can find out more about us at https://feedingsouthflorida. org.
Last year, we distributed over 80 million pounds of food to 1.2 million of our vulnerable neighbors. We couldn’t do that without the generous support of our 34,000 volunteers each year, who inspect, sort, and pack donated food; prepare meals for seniors in our Community Kitchen; assist clients in our Client Services pantry; and distribute food at walk-up and drive-thru meal distributions all over South Florida.
Children ages 12-14 are allowed to volunteer with an adult in our Sorting and Packing experience in either of our warehouses in Pembroke Park or Boynton Beach. Volunteer shifts take place Tuesday through Saturday in the mornings, 8:30-11:30am, and in the afternoons, 1:30-4:30pm. To sign-up, an adult can register the child using the following link to our calendars of available volunteer shifts: Sorting & Packing Calendar
