Description:

Project ORE is a unique, tight-knit community program in New York City serving older adults who are seeking a greater level of support. Using Jewish values to guide our approach, Project ORE provides familial community and social services to older adults who meet some combination of experiencing social isolation, having mental conditions, being homeless or formerly homeless, low-income, or otherwise at risk.

Project ORE offers classes in art, poetry, mental health issues, educational trips, and health and wellness. Additionally, we provide a Jewish experience through a weekly Oneg Shabbat, Hebrew classes, Torah study, and celebration of Jewish holidays.

Volunteers may assist with setting and clearing tables, plating food, helping people find seats, greeting and socializing with members, and cleaning up the room. In addition to daily meal service, volunteers can assist with special holiday meals. These events are an opportunity to serve more community members and provide a meaningful, festive experience for a population that may not otherwise have ways to celebrate. Volunteers assist with event preparation, serving food, greeting members, and cleaning up.  The food pantry is also open twice a month.

An adult must accompany students under 15 years old.
