Description:

Foothill Unity Center, a multi-service agency, serves as the region’s primary provider of integrated services that help individuals and families move out of poverty to reach economic stability. Our program model helps to advance equity in the San Gabriel Valley community. We are providing access and opportunities, removing barriers for the low-income and working poor, providing a safety net to the disadvantaged to prevent homelessness, and supporting the underserved homeless population by addressing their full spectrum of needs for the whole family.

What we do would not be possible without thousands of dedicated volunteers like you! Volunteers are the heart of Foothill Unity Center. Sign up today to volunteer and to make a meaningful impact in our community.

Onboarding process for new volunteers:

  1. Sign up for a Civic Champs account. Sign up here>
  2. In your Civic Champs account, sign up for orientation. If no available orientations work with your schedule, contact volunteer@foothillunitycenter.org for alternate time options.
  3. Attend the orientation you signed up for.
  4. After orientation, you can come in on a drop-in basis, within our operating hours. (see below)

When are volunteer opportunities available?

  • At our Monrovia Campus, we need volunteers Monday-Friday from 8:30am-4pm, with greatest need during our food distributions on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays between 8:30-11:30am.
  • At our Pasadena Campus, we need volunteers during food distributions on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 8:30-11:30am. Pasadena is not open to volunteers outside of our distribution hours.

What do volunteers do at Foothill Unity Center?

Volunteers help us with so many things! As a volunteer, you may be asked to help with sorting, packing, or quality checking donated food items, sorting or moving product in the warehouse, filing, checking clients in for food distributions, photography, videography, content creation, and much more.

How old do I have to be to volunteer? Can my child come too?

All volunteers must be in at least 6th grade when they start volunteering. Any volunteers in grades 6-8 come with a participating parent or guardian who signs up on their own account. (Both guardian and child must sign up). Volunteers in grades 9-12 may attend unsupervised, and we reserve the right to ask for supervision if necessary.

Can I bring my friend/sister/uncle/neighbor/etc to volunteer with me?

Absolutely, as long as they also sign up for a Civic Champs account and attend orientation!

What should I wear?

Please wear comfy clothing that you don’t mind getting a bit dusty or dirty, and sturdy, closed-toe sneakers or boots. Please wear long pants. Please do not wear revealing clothes that expose midriffs, or any with inappropriate or offensive words or images.

Who we are

We are a team of change-makers who believe that every helping hand can raise a child and create a better future for them.

We started extending help to needy children and youth who were eager to study and work for a better life. This moment intensified when we found that there were many such underprivileged children who needed help with food, shelter and education. Our team expanded and we spread out in different regions to make sure we cover all possible areas and help as many children as possible.

We now run shelter homes, schools and a reasonable mess that helps such needy young people. We also have our helpline offices spread throughout the country so one can approach us anytime they need help.

Our approach

Our Mission
Our mission is to make sure all young people and children get all the support they need, when they need it, no matter what it is.

Whether it is a reassuring conversation, financial help, education, professional training, or simply the assurance that they are not alone, we will make sure that everyone gets support that meets them where they’re at as quickly as possible.

Our Vision
We want to build a world where no child or youth feels alone and gets every possible help they need as soon as possible.
Our entire team wants to see a world where every youngster struggling in any way feels able to reach out and has people who’ll help them with education, jobs, and more. We want to spread out in every region so we’ll be reachable to all.
