Description:

OBKLA is a community-run, industrial, Kosher kitchen space where volunteers from all
walks of life come together to prepare meals under Chef instruction for distribution to
families in need across Los Angeles.

We believe In the power of food – to build connections within and across communities,
to provide nutrition and dignity to those in need, and provide meaning for those who
want to make a difference.

In a fun and fast paced 2 hour volunteer session, we prepare and package 300 fresh
meals and 300 packs of cookies from start to finish. It is a fun and exciting way to share
the act of giving with joy and is suitable for the whole family including kids age 5+.
OBKLA offers B’nai Mitzvah families the opportunity to come and have their own
dedicated volunteer session as a part of their “Mitzvah Project”, where the true value
of hands on “Chesed” is imbued within them at this pivotal age.

Who we are

We are a team of change-makers who believe that every helping hand can raise a child and create a better future for them.

We started extending help to needy children and youth who were eager to study and work for a better life. This moment intensified when we found that there were many such underprivileged children who needed help with food, shelter and education. Our team expanded and we spread out in different regions to make sure we cover all possible areas and help as many children as possible.

We now run shelter homes, schools and a reasonable mess that helps such needy young people. We also have our helpline offices spread throughout the country so one can approach us anytime they need help.

Our mission is to make sure all young people and children get all the support they need, when they need it, no matter what it is.

Whether it is a reassuring conversation, financial help, education, professional training, or simply the assurance that they are not alone, we will make sure that everyone gets support that meets them where they’re at as quickly as possible.

Our Vision

We want to build a world where no child or youth feels alone and gets every possible help they need as soon as possible.

Our entire team wants to see a world where every youngster struggling in any way feels able to reach out and has people who’ll help them with education, jobs, and more. We want to spread out in every region so we’ll be reachable to all.
