Description:

Our volunteers are the agents of change in every program we offer. Volunteers are critical to our mission and the work we do. They provide companionship to older adults, work in our food pantries, and offer their special skills to support members of our community throughout New York City. If you’d like to share your time, friendship, special expertise, and your generosity of spirit with Invisible Hands by Commonpoint, know that you will have a great and lasting impact on your neighbors to live independent and successful lives.

Although some programs may have a minimum age requirement or further steps for onboarding, everyone is welcome and appreciated. Commonpoint volunteers range in age from teens to seniors and come from diverse cultures, faiths, races, and economic backgrounds.

Although no special skills are required, some volunteers offer their specialized expertise to lead a class or give a performance such as a singalong, yoga, concert, physical fitness, entrepreneurship, technology, personal finance, cooking, current events, English or foreign language, and games.

Commonpoint offers distinct and ongoing volunteer events throughout New York City, Long Island, Westchester, and parts of New Jersey. There is probably an opportunity to help nearby. You can also volunteer remotely.

We offer opportunities from a few hours for a one-time event to daily ones. As part of your onboarding process, we will work with you to match you with an opportunity that fits your schedule, interest, and skills. We are always adding new opportunities as we work to best support and serve our community.
