Tawa Compost
TAWA Compost began during the COVID-19 pandemic, not as a business but as a heartfelt response to a food crisis. While families struggled to find food, we saw thousands of pounds being thrown away. Determined to make a difference, we rescued and donated edible food, composted inedible food to create nutrient-rich soil.
TAWA Compost wasn’t formed out of a desire for profit or to build a business. It grew from a deep sense of responsibility to the land and the people, grounded in the belief that we can all do more with less, and that the resources around us can be transformed into something meaningful.
Today, TAWA Compost continues to honor that purpose, grounded in the belief that, even in the most challenging times, we can create systems that nurture both the earth and the community. This is our story—shaped by dedication, not just to what we do, but to why we do it.
Every day, entire neighborhoods are affected by improperly handled waste, resulting in significant costs in time, money, and health. Waste facilities play a crucial role in managing waste, but improper sorting contributes to pollution. Learn practical skills to help keep contamination out of the food supply.
TAWA Compost is working to expand its composting bins all over the county.
If you are passionate about composting and have a desire to learn more, volunteering with TAWA is for you. You can help teach others about composting and how to use the products.
